sickies are in the house

The sickies are in the house.  Started early last week with croup.  About midweek a stomach thing decided to come and visit.  So now we have the Croup and a stomach thing visiting.  THey are both very much unwelcome guests.

After an Urgent Care trip for Lily to be told "oh, she is mildly dehydrated"  Which is why I brought her in.  So that was frustrating.  LOL.

But the stomach thing decided to go stay in Nick's room.  Poor guy.  And so far Lily is doing o.k. with the croup.  She is the one I was most worried about getting it.

Last week I think I earned a gold star for taking a bunch of kids to church by myself when 2 of them were being very difficult to get there.  But this week you can just take that gold star right away because there is no way I am taking a croupy girl and a throwing up boy to church.  All you ward members can thank me for not sharing.

So that is what I have been doing all week.  Loads of fun and loads of behind on my Photo sessions and homework as a result.

Must keep swimming.

5th Grade Program

Last night was Nick's 5th grade program.  It was a patriotic theme.  They did great.  Nick had singing parts (not solo), dancing parts, a musical instrument part, and a speaking part!  Wow.  And he was up on stage smiling :)  So someone over at that school is doing something right.

The 5th grade this year is *very* small.  Which  means small class sizes!  That is awesome.  In comparison to the other grades there is one entire fewer class (3 instead of 4) and each class has much smaller class sizes by 5 or 6 students compared to other grades.  1999 was the year to have a baby!

Great job Nick.

Disney on Ice

Today I took the little girls to Disney on Ice.  I figure if Kate (J&K) can take her kids all over the planet, surely I can take my girls to Disney on Ice.   She is my T.V. icon mom and I think there must be better examples out there.  But I digress...

I realize if I were Kate, then we would have gone for free, sat in the front row, and met all of the cast.  But since I am a regular person we sat near the back and didn't meet the cast.  But I was there with the two prettiest princess ever.

Zoe likes tinkerbell, sleeping beauty, and all the princesses, but not the scary guys.  And I of course, loved being there with Zoe and Lily.

cloth diapers

I am loving the cloth diapers.  I have just a few swaddle bees, and a lot of prefolds.  Prefolds in (newborn size) and in size 4X6X4 and 4X8X4.  I started with snappies and they all walked off.  I have one pair of dritz pins and some covers.  Currently the covers I have to fit her are one stacinator wool cover, a few bumpy day and night covers and a couple of bumpy wool covers.  I have found that I don't love the swaddle bees.  LOL.  They are great and all.  I lost the pins one day and had a whole day trying to use just the swaddlebees.  But really missed the prefolds that day.  Once the pins turned back up....hallelujah!

During the day I keep her in the 4X6X4 prefolds and a bumpy cover.  Try to use the day or night but the wool will do.  They are just bulkier.  She isn't a super heavy wetter by any stretch and so far the 4X6X4 have worked out great with less bulk.  At night, or if it might be a while before we can get to a change, I put the 4X8X4 and the stacinator on her.  I love stacinators, especially for night time.  And of course all night, the extra bulk isn't a biggie and the extra absorbency is.

I wash about every other night.  And she took the switch with a smile.

And switching to cloth diapers has brought me a whole new level of yummy baby love.  She is so sweet, so very sweet.  And I love changing her little cloth diapers.

halloween

i love Halloween.    And this year we had a great Halloween.  I love the little kids dressed up stomping through the neighborhoods.  That is so much fun.

This year we went to Weber State for their non-traditional student family party.  And you will all be pleased to know that i wasn't the oldest person there.  My kids seem to think I am.

I have photos from the pumpkin patch, photos from the party and photos from last night.  And reallyl not a lot of time to play with photos right now.

But I have to share.  Two cute little bugs and a Ninja.
